Welcome to my Underwear Affair Personal Page! As you can see, I’ve joined City of Hope’s Underwear Affair - a 10K run / 5K walk to uncover cures for cancers below the waist. It’s not only fun, but it fights prostate, colorectal, cervical, ovarian, kidney, bladder, testicular and uterine. After all, I have a few of those body parts and many of you have the same ones or the other ones! So we ALL should care about this issue. So next August, I’ll be just one of thousands of people gathered on the streets of Los Angeles this summer in the biggest Affair this town has ever seen!


What can you do about it? You can donate to me and my Undie Run! Don’t be shy - it’s about giving these devastating cancers some exposure and shedding some light on their cures. So please help me in my effort to raise money for care and research for cancers "down there!" (wink, wink)

I will be keeping a blog with updates about my training and fundraising and perhaps I'll even be taking votes about what I should wear for the big day! LOL...nothing too crazy people!

Melanee's Undie Run Updates!

Well party people I am happy to say that I've been training faithfully 6 days a week, and at this point I am doing walking 6 miles a day. I haven't been a runner for quite some time, so I'm following a training regimen that slowly ramps a less than active person into running again. I started walking 3 miles a day and have worked my way up to the goal distance of 6 miles (a 10K is 6.25 miles). The idea is to walk the goal distance for 3 weeks to build stamina and muscle tone & re-acquaint my 38 year old joints with the repetition!
Next I will incorporate running 1/2 of every mile, alternating running a walking. And then increase the running exponentially from there as my stamina for running builds. I haven't weighed in today, but thus far I've already dropped 3 pounds! Hopefully by August I'll have dropped enough weight so that I don't have to run in my underwear...and a lucha libra mask!
A big THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far! You are all amazing to give during this rough economy!

Third time's a charm!
So I awoke this morning to great news...a THIRD donation from the adorable and wonderful Tammie Ware!!!

I can't tell you how touched I am that people have donated for my Undie Run and have joined my Facebook group in support of my first 10K run :) I'm super excited to begin training tomorrow (in spite of the rain! Ugh!) and start brainstorming about what I'm going to wear. LOL

A second donation...SHUT UP!!!
Okay...I'm pinching myself. In part because I can't BELIEVE that I've already gotten a second donation but mostly because I'm into pinching myself. LOL ;)
Kidding.
Seriously though....STEVE WELKE!!! He came through tonite with my second donation and for FIFTY SMACKERS no less!!! Big, big x's and o's to him for this and for everyone who has joined my Facebook 10K Undie Run Group and is spreading the WORD! MUCHAS GRACIAS!
I might have to give final undie-costume vote to the highest donation. That's not confirmed yet...but it's I'm taking the idea under advisement.

The first donation is in!!!
I just want to take a moment to thank Stacie Stolle Bonar for being my very first donator for this run! :) You rock Stace! I am going to make you all proud by raising money for a great cause, finishing this race and rocking the silliest (yet somehow how cute) undie get-up while doing so!
I have already researched a training regime which begins tomorrow. I will be training at the Beaumont Sports Park which, if you take the outside path on the West side of the track, is equal to one mile around.
I will not, however, be TRAINING in my undies...so no need to come out to "cheer me on" at the Sports Park!
